| I"m from the Boston area and there are so many great butcheries that sell marinated steak tips, chicken and pork. Amazing for the summer grilling! My husband and I have not found any shops nearby that sell good, marinated meats. I know some grocery stores have a small selection, but they are nowhere near as good. We're looking for a true meat shop.. any recommendations would be helpful!! |
| Lol I knew you were from Boston before I opened your post, I am too. Where do you live? Unfortunately there really are not steak tips like what we are used to in this area. I live in Annapolis so far from the city, there used to be a place near me that had them but they went out if business. Probably more luck making then your selves |

too funny! I'm in Arlington... my husband and I are shocked we can't find any shops like what we're used to.
My family used to get amazing marinated meats from the Danvers Butchery in Danvers, MA (www.danversbutchery.com). I think they might ship to this area. I'm supposed to speak with their catering director this week and I'll update my post if I have any luck! Stay tuned

I've read good things about Stachowski's in Georgetown. (P Street at about 28th or so, I think.) I haven't been yet so not sure.

I do know that if you're looking for a real butcher shop inside a grocery store in this area, you have to go to an Hispanic grocery. The regular grocery stores pretty much just unload the cellophane and cryovac from boxes these days.
You could also try an halal meat shop. |
Another Boston transplant. I also haven't found a good fish store. I. Also in arlington. Wegmans is the best I've found, but it is a drive. |
| It's not a meat or fish store, but all you new Arlingtonians owe it to yourselves to check out The Italian Store on Lee Highway (if you haven't already). |

There's the Organic Butcher in Mclean, just down Old Dominion from Arlington. I don't know if they do marinated meats as I've only bought plain meat and fish there. It's expensive too. I also here there's a good butcher on Mt Vernon Ave in Del Ray (Alexandria).
Also, for Arlingtonians looking for fish, there's BlackSalt market (part of the restaurant) on MacArthur Blvd - very fresh fish and also expensive. I no longer go to the American Seafood Corp behind the Lee Heights shops - have gotten some poor quality fish there. I've found that the big Giant in Mclean has the best selection of fish for a supermarket (at least it's closer than Wegmans). |
Yep, Wegmans is the only place my Boston-raised MIL will buy her meat when she visits us. I have to hike on out there with her because she thinks all the grocery store options suck. It is disappointing that we don't have better options here. My poor DH wandered around the area throughout our first month here looking for a butcher and never found one. |
