Hi, Everyone,
Just found out that my 5th IUI cycle failed. I have yet to even make it to my blood test before knowing. I feel blessed and fortunate to have gotten pregnant with my now toddler relatively easily (it took us almost a year, but my husband travels a lot) and am so confused by all of this. My doctor is talking about IVF and it scares me. I could understand 1 or 2 failed IUI's, but 5??? Has anyone ever experienced this with secondary infertility and it turned out to be something obscure? In my case I don't think it's age because I'm 30. I think I'll just try one more cycle and then take a break for the summer. So much admiration and respect for you all who have been doing this for years. The very best of luck to everyone out there.

| I don't know anything about secondary IF since I have primary, but we never had a formal diagnosis, did 5 failed IUIs, and then had success on our first IVF cycle. It was very scary but worth it. Good luck! |
| Have you had an HSG? I has secondary infertility, and after an HSG, I got pregnant 2 months later. It checks for any blockages in your tubes and supposedly clears any "cobwebs". |

FYI--a really nice write-up on possible causes of secondary infertility:

| Thanks everyone! Yep, had an hsg and all good. I no longer ovulate on my own anymore - have been on menopur/ovidrel. |
This. With my second child I had 4 failed IUI's. It was declared as secondary infertility (got PG with IUI on second attempt with DC#1). I had the HSG to check for blockages and scar tissue. I got PG the next month via IUI. FWIW, the RE said that if it didn't work then we would have to move on to IVF. We never got that far, so I can't speak to that. |
