Microwave Rice bad for you?

I love using my rice cooker but the insert is aluminum and this makes me nervous too. However i can't find a rice cooker without an aluminum insert. Does anyone know where to find one? When i search online it never talks about the insert which is where the actual rice cooks.

And to answer the original question... i sometimes do microwave rice in bowls and bags because it is so convenient, but I do question the safety. I'm sure traces of plastic and chemicals gets into the food.

To PP, I am assuming you are being sarcastic, I actually chuckled to myself and then felt bad in case you were being serious in some way.

We use the Uncle Ben 90 sec rice all the time. I know its crazy expensive compared to normal rice but I dont care, Its so flippin easy

The best way to ea rice is to soak it for several hours and then cook it in the stove. Microwaves are not wirhout risk.

What is so hard and inconvenient about making rice on the stove top in a pan? Just asking. I don't eat rice because of the arsenic levels. What does a microwave do to rice when cooking?

I second this.

Yes, it takes 15 minutes from absolute start to absolute finish, but, typically meal prep ALSO takes that long if you are honest and including things like setting the table, pouring drinks, searing the meat/tofu, etc.

So you put this rice and water in a saucepot, spend 14 minutes doing everything else, and at the 15 minute mark Voila! the family sits down to dinner with hot rice, utensils, chopped vegetables and seared meat or tofu.

And PPs, not all rice in the world is packed with arsenic.

Why would microwave rice be unsafe? It's just heating the water faster.

If it wasn't for trader joes microwave brown rice we wouldn't eat rice lol. I am a good cook but rice is my nemesis.

We use that all the time too. Brown rice takes too long to cook otherwise. We haven't died yet, but it never occurred to me that microwave rice would be a problem.
