| I have lost some weight, and am enjoying wearing my Lillly Pulitzer dresses. I like the retro styles and the colors suit me. I realize many mock LP, as very "country club" and dressing like a little girl. I am usually pretty stylish, and wondering what others think about this brand (I don't wear the dresses with giraffes on them or anything, more the bold prints and some of dressier items, a tunic here or there). Thanks. |
| I think people either love it or hate it - no in between. I happen to love it in the right circumstances. I struggle with the dresses because most of them are just too short for me. I do have a few that are closer to just above the knee length. |

When I think Lilly Pulitzer, I don't think retro - I think preppy country club. I love retro and vintage inspired looks, but LP just doesn't fit those for me.
Retro to me = feminine LP = cutesy girly |
| I love Lilly! I'm wearing a Lilly dress right now (and I'm 33). |
Love, love, love Lily! DD even has a Lily dress for her AG doll. |
| To get away from the little girl-syndrome, I usually wear either LP pants or a top, but not a shift dress. |
\ Oh my. Let's not drag AGDs into this. |
| My teen DD loves LP. I think the look is great when you are looking for something fun and summer like to wear. Just add it to your closet. Just don't it let become your only look. I like to dress preppy one day, grungy another, classic another. Just makes it more fun. I agree that many of the dresses are short and for younger people. |
| OP, i personally am not into LP at all, but if you're going for retro prep, you might want to consider kate spade or boden or tory burch? it takes a specific type of person to unapologetically pull-of LP! |
| My friend wears it well tall thin and blonde |
| Preppy. I l love dresses but it's not my style. If your kid goes to Landon however, you'll fit right in. |
| I LOVE Lilly and always have. Bring on summer! |
It's retro, or at least many of the looks are very Palm Springs circa 1968-1974 I would say. The colors are fairly late 60s too. I call it preppy on acid. Kind of like the old Dorothy Draper decorating , see greenbriar resort if you need a reference. |
| Love it...wearing a Lilly dress today in fact. |
|
Love it, don't have the figure for it, sadly. (the too short dresses).
I'll sometimes wear just a skirt with something very plain, or just a top with a plain bottom just so it's not overwhelming. SOme people will hate it, but there are closet Lily lovers out there. |
