Tina Fey appeared on Conan Tuesday night and talked about 3-year-old daughter Alice, having Sarah Palin at SNL with her pregnant daughter Bristol and how great it was to hug Oprah on camera for "30 Rock." (Hugging Oprah is "everything you want it to be... it's like going to a spa for a week.")

According to Fey, when Sarah Palin ("she was nice") guested on "Saturday Night Live," she asked Fey where Alice had gone as the show approached. Fey told Conan:

"Gov. Palin was like, 'Oh did Alice go home? Oh, cause Bristol woulda babysat.' She offered Bristol Palin to babysit Alice... And it was Bristol's birthday, too. I was like yeah, that's exactly what 17-year-old Bristol Palin wants to do at SNL is babysit the toddler of the lady that gooks on her mom... but they're a nice family"

Who cares. Maybe Bristol offered or really likes kids. You don't know.

No big deal.

So, when your daughter is 18 and 7 months pregnant, you'll volunteer her to babysit for a 3-year-old at 11:30 on her birthday? Or think it's a good idea for her to take that on, seven months pregnant, late at night, even if she asked for it?

Wow.

I guess my kid's lucky that I think it's a big deal.

Then again, my kid is going to know how a condom works, so she'll go to college instead of the OB ward at Wasilla General.

Calm down tiger! You have no idea whether or not Bristol wanted to go or not. I'm sure a 17 year old has more energy than we did pregnant. Bristol may have volunteered herself. You DO NOT know. If a 17 year old can get pregnant I am sure she can make her own decision as to what time she wants to go to bed. Don't you think it is exciting for a 17 year old to be at SNL, pregnant or not?

Yes, this is completely no big deal. Mom was at the taping of SNL. She brought her teenage daughter with her, birthday or no, 11:30 at night or not, she was in fact there already.

Another mom (Fey) was there with a 3 year old, so first mom says, essentially, "My daughter could have watched her for you if you had needed it, she's just hanging around waiting for the taping to be over." It is somehting my own mother would have said, and I certainly would have done it for another mom in such an instance.

This is completely no big deal, and there's no need to bring condoms into it.

(I'm an Obama supporter and really cannot stand Palin, BTW. (But for her position on fruit flu research, not for suggesting her probably bored out of her skull teen daughter could watch someone else's daughter for an hour.)

I think that maybe you guys can find something more productive to criticize than this. Give me a break.

Condescending and self-righteous, not hilarious.

In defense of SNL, the L stands for LIVE!

If a parent from metro DC got on this board and said that she'd offered up her 7 months pregnant teenager (whom she hadn't told about birth control) for babysitting on said kid's birthday, the person would get flamed into the next time zone.

And nobody on this board would wish that kind of shitty parenting on their own kid, much less act on it.

One hopes.

I don't think SNL is as "Live" as it used to be. There was something that happened years ago (maybe somebody cussed) so I think the result was that it is a little delayed. BTW, it IS taped for the West Coast.

Wasn't she there already? It's not like Sarah Palin offered to have her daughter watch the other kid all day. And it's not as if being seven months pregnant is physically incapcitating for most people. Anyone with more than one child probably did plenty of babysitting at seven months--sometimes even at 11:30.

(My question, actually, would be, why would a 3-year-old be up at 11:30?)

huh? With regard to the following post? "Then again, my kid is going to know how a condom works, so she'll go to college instead of the OB ward at Wasilla General. "

If so, get over it. It's funny. And as a parent, I'll be damned if I shelter my kids so much that they can't protect themselves from pregnancy and disease. What's so condescending about having high hopes for your children?
