Best place for crabs in OC?

The kind you EAT, otherwise I'd just go to Seacrets. Yes, I know OC is declasse, but I will be there this weekend and am ready for blue crabs!

I like The Crab Bag, 13005 Coastal Highway.

I have never actually eaten them there, we always take them to go.

we love to go to hooper's (right before you cross the bridge to OC). a lot of people love to go to hooper's. there's almost always a wait. but if you are a diehard crab eater and like variety besides crabs, we go for the AYCE crabs, shrimp, hush puppies, fried chicken and corn. they might not be the biggest meatiest crabs but it doesn't matter because i can literally eat a dozen myself.

Sorry OP, just read your subject query, not the first sentence of your post. Clearly you already know this.

I've always heard Crabs to Go is best (not eat-in, obviously). On Route 50 a couple miles out of the city, near the Walmart and racetrack.

I heard the same thing but was not impressed when we got them from there. The Crab Bag is good and I have had good luck with PGN as well. I have also heard good things about the crabs at the crab house at The Ember's (its an all you can eat deal).

Hoopers. If you like crabcakes, try the Crabcake factory.

And about the "declasse" comment, that is such elitist BS, mostly from wannabes and posers. It's like when people from NYC say they SUMMER in the Hamptons when what they mean is they rent a house there for a week or two. Owning a nice second home is never "déclassé" but renting in fancyville and pretending ownership someplace nice but not as fancy "declasse" is actually just posing. OC is a great resort town. I will take my million dollar waterfront home in OC over your "classy" week in Sea Colony any day and you can call me déclassé as much as you want! I will proudly have my OC sticker on the car as I drive down EVERY weekend while you scrounge to find an opening available at some dumpy rental in Rehobeth!

Harpoon Hanna's! All you can eat king crab legs! It's not in OC proper, just a short drive.

you do realize you are sitting on the chesapeake, home of the blue crab, eating crab legs frozen and flown in from Alaska, right? not what OP was looking for, I bet.

OP here. I was just kidding about the declasse thing. I have fun drinking orange crushes, eating crabs, and people-watching in OC! I don't own a home there, however.

Anyway, we ended up at PGN, since it was close to where we were staying. I thought it was pretty good, but no Cantler's! I have a suspicion the crabs at PGN were previously frozen, however. The season is off to a slow start because of the cold spring we've had.

If the crab fans haven't been to Cantler's in Annapolis, do it!

Bahama Mamas has the best by far, IMO. And I especially like that they base their prices on weight, so you don't pay for jumbos and then get served empty shells.

I'll eat anything, but even I think the food is bad at Hoopers. Not worth the hassle.
