Takoma Park Rec Morning/Afternoon Edition (before/aftercare)?

If you've participated in this, how has it worked out? Do the kids get to/from school ok? What do you like about it? Anything you would like to change? Thanks!

We used this program but eventually left.

Pro: Less expensive than the other local options.

Cons: There is a caregiver there who constantly yells at the kids. No structured homework time. The amount of snack given to the kids afterschool is tiny. They withheld food from my child when he said he was hungry. After that, I always made sure to keep his backpack stocked with snacks.

I know several families who used this program for a bit, but all were unhappy (including us) and all of us found other arrangements.

We use it but not everyday. The PP is right about the snacks. They are pretty skimpy. My kid is really easygoing and we haven't had any problems there. Some of the caregivers are better than others but there are a couple that my DD really likes. It is also nice that if they have an after school activity, they can just walk over to the rec center. If cost is a factor, you can't beat it! $195 a month. I think that the Kid's Adventure program that is at PBES is around $400. Good luck!

OP here. Thanks for the information. What before/aftercare providers for Takoma Park Elementary School do families like?
