Is public kindergarten challenging after a good PreK?

We have been fortunate to have some great preK teachers and now we are planning to send DC to public kindergarten. The school seems okay, and I am aware that K is meant to try to get everyone on the same page. I went to visit the school and in some of the classrooms they were doing the same things that DC did at age 3 and 4. There are no longer teacher's aids because of budget cuts, so do they still work in small groups in K? What can I expect them to do to challenge the kids that are well-prepared?

It all depends on the skill of the teacher in the classroom and the leadership of the principal. Ask them directly. Good luck!

Our elementary school has advanced K students go to 1st or 2nd grade classrooms for reading and mathematics if the parents are OK with it.
If your child seems like they aren't being challenged you could ask if that is possible.

My DC had an adjustment going form play-based PS to traditional, seated work.
