Mantua AAP vs LLIV

Anonymous
I went to the AAP orientation at Mantua today. My DC's base school has a LLIV program. I expected Mantua to tell me how their school is better or at least different than the base schools. Instead they told me that the curriculum is the exact same. Of couse all the teachers are different so it won't be exactly the same but all of the teachers have the same requirements for their qualifications. We are supposed to decide where to send our children for next year by Friday but the schools seem to be giving no useful information on which to base a decision. Mantua teaches Italian for its language. Someone asked about transitions from their base school which teaches a different language and they were told that "you can always just stay at your base school". It felt to me that the school really doesn't care about AAP children from other schools attending their school or not.

I got a similar impression from Louise Archer. I wasn't very impressed, but maybe it was who they picked to do the presentations and tours.

The difference might be how many center eligible kids will be in your base level IV. That might affect the pace of the class etc. if there are only a few center eligible kids and the rest of the class is filled by the principal. You should also consider how many level IV classes there are per grade so your DC won't be stuck with the same kids every year in the event there are social issues.
