work shoe/sandal with good arch support for summer

Anonymous
just had a bout with plantar fascitis and wore winter boots and shoes with arch supports. realize my summer shoes don't have great support. any ideas of stuff that looks halfway decent and has good arch support (or that i can put an insert in...) especially sandals which i usually wear all summer...

I had this issue 2 years ago. I wore Born and Clark shoes. Heels are not an issue because your weight is on your toe not your arch, but I would still heal before I wore heels.

Me too with Born and Clark shoes, they are great and I have had similar issues to you OP!

same problem here

recently bought a couple of pairs of "orthaheels" flip flops. They are cute & comfortable (but not for work).

I love Blondo shoes. They do not have a lot of styles but I find them incredibly comfortable, yet still cute.

Dansko sandals have a nice arch and a wide selection--they seem to be made for wider feet though.

I just ordered a pair of Clarks (Lucena) but I have no idea what they are like yet -- Zappos says they have shipped them

Wolky Liana sandals probably would not please everyone looks wise, but they are incredibly comfortably. Lived in a pair last summer.

I get flats one half size bigger and put in super feet insoles (20% off at rei this week!!).

For sandals I get Birkenstocks via 6pm.com. I have the java style. I know, not the cutest but I also have pf and my feet (and hips and knees) thank me every day.

I agree about these brands and Barking Dogs. You might find this site helpful too: http://www.footsmart.com/Womens-Shoe-Store

Also, I like the look of these:

Not a work shoe, but FitFlops have very good arch support. I live in them all summer.

Chacos and Orthoheel flip flops have been great.
