I loved this brand through my teens and twenties. Now in my early 30s, I still love it but am finding it harder to relate to some of the trendier looks, unforgiving styles (a la length of shorts), and general lack of (sigh) mom-friendly comfort and practicality. Where do I shop now???? |
HA! Welcome to my world.
In terms of retailers try Banana, J. McLaughlin, and (gasp) Talbots, even the gap. But really department stores have become my friends - Bloomingdales/Saks/etc. |
I was just looking online at Garnet Hill and Boden a few minutes ago. They had some cute casual pieces. |
I like Loft although I still wear some J Crew. My favorite pair of jeans are from Target. I am in my 40s. |
Hannah Andersson has good quailty comfort clothes for women.
I still wear JCrew most days, though. |
Boden! |
I like Garnet Hill and I think it's time to try Boden. Loft used to be my favorite but the quality is so bad now by the end of summer my clothes look like crap after just one season's wear. |
I have never understood the allure of J Crew. |
I've moved on to madewell. |
Funny. I'm in my early thirties and just moved to J Crew from Victoria's Secret (loved their turtlenecks, but they don't make them anymore), because J Crew was more forgiving.
But I like Boden too! |
I spent years in the 3" chinos (and loved them so) but this year I've moved on to the 5" chinos. Turns out they're not so bad and I don't feel like I'm trying to look 22. |
I have no idea what's happened in the past 4 years or so, but J.Crew's quality has gone to shit recently. I don't mind some stylings of theirs, but I had 4 out of 4 shirts rip or tear within 1-2 wearings. Money down the drain. |
20:45 here... I just went to JCrew yesterday to exchange two (two of the same shirt, different colors) that had started to unravel at the seams. Really annoyed the hell out of me because they were basic tees that I had spent almost $30 apiece each. |
Was it a perfect fit knit tee? I recently noticed holes in the armpits of a perfect fit tee I bought just last fall. I loved the color and the fit, but yeah I paid too much for it to start falling apart so quickly. To answer the OP, I am also early 30s, and while I don't feel too old for J Crew styles I am too old to throw money down the drain on shoddy quality clothes. My problem is that polyester is freaking everywhere in my old go to stores. I have hardly added Anything to my wardrobe this year because I can't find much worth buying (its been great for my bank account though) I've also had some luck with Boden and surprisingly Amazon of all places. Ive been meaning to check out Lands End as well. |
