Do they work? Do you have one that you like? What should I look for if I decide to buy one? Where do I buy it? Will it take up half my closet? Should I ask for one for Mother's Day? (Just kidding about this last.) Any and all advice welcome. |
the shower |
I have a Rowenta steamer i love. Highly recommend. |
Just take your clothes out of the dryer as soon as it stops and fold or hang them up. |
I fucking love my steamer. I've used my iron once in the last year. Use the steamer every other day at least.
My policy for midsized appliances is to get an entry-level one, use it until it breaks and I know what I like and hate about it, and then get the expensive one with all the features that I've learned matter to me. |
I have a cheap one from BB&B. It's a travel steamer, is small, and heats up in seconds. Also, under $20. It's called the Go Mini. |
Sil has the big stand up kind and I am green with envy. I stay with her sometimes when I'm in her town on business and the steamer lives in the guest room, so I get to head out for meetings looking sharp! It's especially great on knits. |
I have a travel steamer, and it takes forever, so I rarely use it. My inlaws used to have the stand up one, and it was great. It eventually died (from overuse, probably). |
I'm embarrassed to say that I throw my wrinkled garment in the dryer with a wet towel for 20 minutes. Works great but big waste of energy. |
Not the OP, but I have very few work items that go in the dryer. Most items are hung up to dry and even though I try to shake and smooth out wrinkles, pants are often wrinkled. |
1939++ I don't have a steamer and I cAn't iron and I do this too and it works great |
OP here -- thanks to all for your advice.
To the Rowenta poster -- which model would you recommend? Thanks! (BTW, I have a Rowenta iron, which is excellent, but it's not optimal for some fabrics/garments. To the Go Mini poster -- does it take a long time, as another poster stated re her travel steamer? To the "I fucking love my steamer" poster -- which model and how long has it lasted? Many thanks, ladies, and Happy Mother's Day to you all! |
Seriously, pps? I have one and it doesn't work for sh*t. Just makes my clothes wet so then they are damp and wrinkled. What am I doing wrong? |
I love my steamer too. Plan on getting a stand up one when we move and have more room. I bought a travel size one with good reviews from amazon. |
I am the Rowenta poster. I can't remember the model - it was a gift - but it is a stand up kind. I use it almost every day to refresh/get wrinkles out of work clothes. You cant throw tailored items like suits or silk tops in the dryer. |
