Do you eat Paleo for weight loss? Please tell me about your results.
Do you count calories or not? Do you limit nuts and coconut oils or not? How long before you started to see results? Thank you! |
| Most people I know who eat Paleo haven't lost weight. Weight loss is all about calories, not gimmicky diets -- though there may be other reasons for doing Paleo. |

People who do paleo often lose a lot of weight. But this isn't because they are doing paleo, it is because for the first time in their life they are being intentional and conscious of what they eat.
You can achieve similar results if you just cut back on the number of calories you consume and eat cleaner foods. Cutting back on calories is harder than you think because there are probably 500-1000 calories sneaking into your diet that you aren't really conscious of; a starbucks coffee here, a quick bag of potato chips there, etc. Those all add up. Eating cleaner just means eating less processed foods. This also goes in with cutting back on calories. Nutritionally dense foods are just better for you and give you better bang for your buck in terms of calories. 100 calories worth of potato chips is worth far less to your body than 100 calories of vegetables or nuts for example. Sooo, eating cleanly and eating less really go hand in hand. Just focus on that - there is no need to get ridiculous and go full born paleo |

I'm with 12:53. While Paleo has worked for some of my friends, it hasn't worked for everyone I know who tried it. Personally I find it restrictive. Whenever I'm trying to lose a few pounds and tighten up, I try to eat cleaner. Cut back on alcohol, added sugar, processed foods, white grains and fried foods. I do a lot of cardio, so I'm all about the healthy whole grains, the steamed veggies, the lean meats, a little fat here and there, etc.
Also, whenever I'm trying to lose a few pounds, I keep a close eye on my calorie intake. I might still eat a piece of cake or have too many glasses of wine, but I hold myself accountable for that. |
| Worked for me - but no nuts or coconut oil. BUT - it is not true paleo. I do allow myself a little wine on weekends, gum (a little sugar), Diet Coke and a little dairy. Lost 7 pounds effortlessly. |
| I lost 20lbs cutting out gluten w/in a couple months. No exercise and drank my coke like everyday |
| I lost 43 pounds on paleo and kept it off right up until I started cheating. Then I put on 15 again. Back on the wagon .... |
