OP, you can get a bat in your house without a bat box or without your neighbors having a bat box. Chances are you will be fine. If for some reason you are bit, there are the shots.
It's very difficult to actually get bats to nest in a bat box. We could do away with the bat boxes if we stopped destroying their environment. |

| My whole family got rabies shots after waking to a bat in a cottage last summer. Except for the co-payment sting, the rabies shots were no big deal. Even the kids didn't complain. Bats in the house/and or shots are not worth the angst that I can see this thread creating. |
