I have traditionally used Quicken to manage personal finances but I really want an online platform with smartphone apps and I don't need most of the Quicken features. I want a check register for joint bank account, emergency savings, and a couple credit cards. I tried using ClearCheckbook.com and how I HATE it -- it doesn't keep transactions for separate accounts separate.
Anyway, I really want to push up my game for savings. We can do it but I need to find a system that works better for me and smartphone apps will be really important to that for us. Any recommendations? |
Um, Quicken 2013. They added mobile app. and cloud based features this year. Only works with Windows PCs though, no Mac OS X. But it works with iPhones. |

YNAB (You Need a Budget). (Assuming you don't actually need to PRINT checks; just register transactions.)
YNAB is awesome budgeting software, a great way to manage multiple accounts, and an excellent method for increasing your savings and getting out of debt. DH and I share a YNAB budget on our home computer and then each enter transactions on the apps on our iPhones and iPad while on the go. |
been on ynab for a few weeks now and i am shocked at how well it is going. i am not the type to keep receipts and track spending this closely but i am really adjusting to and enjoying this program. i think it actually forces me to spend less because i dont like inputting. |
| Been using inexfinance.com for a while and really like their budgeting tool. Another great feature is the calendar of events where you can project future spending and set reminders about due dates. |
