After school program or after school sitter? pros/cons/experiences?

trying to decide what to do for next year (i know, i know, but i like to budget). kindergarten, only child. need care 5 days, 3-6 pm. Budget is $500-800/mo (would most likely find a share for sitter)

I think a lot depends on your child. Is she in school all day now? If not, the all day aspect of kindergarten might be enough for her and the after-school sitter might be better. My son is going into kindergarten next year from 3 mornings a week of preschool so I am sure being in school all day everyday will be more than enough for him! It can be hard to find an afterschool sitter though unless you find a student (and then their schedule isn't always the same).
