Congratulations to TJ and Longfellow, as well as the other FCPS schools that did so well!

Yeah Longfellow MS!

I'm not surprised. Longfellow was, and apparently still is, a place that cultivates and celebrates academic success.

Congratulations to Louise Archer Elementary School for finishing 5th (while competing against middle schools no less).

We are not from Louis Archer, but they did especially well representing the elementary schools at state. Their "girl power" team really ruled the day at regionals too.

They should be very proud of themselves.

Why are Arlington schools largely MiA at these competitions? Is there a similar program in which they participate? Or did Arne Duncan tell them competition was bad?

Haycock would have done a lot better if the organizer hadn't been so cutthroat in deciding who was entitled to compete. Turned out to be a very ugly process for many of the kids involved.

Realy??? Can't you just say congratulations to the teams that won and leave it at that?

Our school's SO team is 100% parent run. We are sponsored through the PTA, but all the travel & most of the supplies were paid for by parents.

Maybe talk to other parents and your PTA and see if there is interest to start a team at your school.

Nope. Haycock parents are notoriously nasty.

Congratulations, Longfellow. Quite a few ex-Haycock on their top team, I'd bet!

A little insecure there, Haycock parent?

No, they just spend 10x more effort than everybody else.

Working harder pays dividends, whether it's SO or other academic pursuits.
