Hate not getting info from school until the last minute

I learned from tonights robocall from our ES that DD is supposed to sing at international night this week. No notice was sent home. Nothing was communicated until tonight. DD can't be there and I'm not changing our plans. I'm really annoyed at the last minute notification. I have felt that some of the communication as timely this year but most was a guessing game. This is a Moco public school. DD is in K. I assume I'm in for many more years of this.

Do you check the school calendar? It's most likely on the school website. I'm a MoCo parent with kids from ES to HS and there are very few things that I find out about at the last minute.

I suppose it depends on the school. Sorry, OP.

We are at Bethesda ES and so far information has been forthcoming in advance, which is particularly helpful for my ADHD son, who forgets events and folders and notes half the time.

I also think it depends on the school.

I would bet money that the robo call was just a reminder. Check the calendar and website. That stuff is keys posted way in advance.

Op here. The event is posted. The fact my child's class is performing is not. I see its our particular school.

International Night at our school is not a mandatory thing...those who can show up and participate do and quite frankly it's usually no more than half the class, if that. Every class learns a song during music class and that is the song their grade level performs. Maybe your kid's school is something like this??? In other words, not a big deal if you don't show up.
