reupholster sofa or buy new?

I'm trying to decide whether it's worth reupholsetering my living room sofa purchased 20 years ago. It is actually in really good shape but could use a facelift and a few cushions need restuffing. The estimates we've gotten say it will run us about $1500 with the custom fabric. Most of the comparable couches I've seen new are about $3000. The sofa is Harden, which is a pretty high quality brand. Some of their new couches are as much as $3500 for something comparable.
Anyone with advice, experience about this? Thanks. |

| No experience myself in dc but my parents reupholstered their living room set, it was good quality wood and make, and it looked completely new. Cannot recommend good quality upholsterers here, but ask around to make sure the ones you chose will do an excellent job. |
