Pell Grant Question

I was awarded a pell grant amount of 4,800. I only used 2,400. Am I able to get a check for the amount not used?

It's been a while since I've gotten a Pell Grant, but I'm pretty sure the entire amount was deposited into my account. Why did you only use part of it? Can't you use the rest for your next semester, or books, or living expenses while you are in school?

I would need more details.

But let me try to answer based on what you wrote.
Say you were awarded $4,800 which is based on a 12 unit or more semester, but you only took 6 units so you would receive 1/2 of that. No, the wouldn't just send you the balance. The only way to receive the full amount awarded would be to enroll as a full-time student which usually consists of 12 units or more.

What you may be able to do, is attend summer courses and whatever pell grant you didn't use during Fall and Spring semesters, can go toward Summer.

I would talk to someone in the Financial Aid office about this.

Based on what you wrote, I assume that $2,400 is your tuition and fees? In theory your institution should be refunding to you the other $2,400 to use for qualified room & board, books & supplies, transportation, and child care. However, that refund would generally come towards the beginning of the semester automatically. However, different institutions have different disbursement schedules. You should contact your fin aid office to clarify. You cannot apply that amount towards summer classes. "Summer Pell" was repealed a couple years ago.
