| Hi, Everyone - Just wondering what you all do in terms of timing sex with an IUI. I took my Ovidrel trigger last night around 8:30 (my IUI is 8:30 on Sunday). I'm with Shady Grove and they told me to have sex last night but nothing today so everything can "build up" for the IUI tomorrow. It feels so wrong to do nothing today (this is my 3rd attempt at this) and I almost want to do it again this morning but I'm such a rule follower and am nervous! They said that Ovidrel is pretty accurate in stimulating ovulation 36 hours after you take it. Any thoughts/opinions? |
do NOT have sex today. You do want your husband to have the most swimmers for tomorrow. When they do the IUI on Sunday, it will be right as the egg is popping out. The IUI will put the most sperm right there into the uterus, close to the egg. If you have sex today, you won't have as many swimmers today ( because you had sex on Friday). They will have to make the " trek" through the vagina and cervix, where many don't make it. Maximize your chances for the MOST swimmers by waiting until Sunday. You'll be fine. |
| Even if you ovulate a little early, sperm from last night should be there waiting to catch any falling egg(s) today. We did have sex the night after the IUIs just in case things happened late and because I liked thinking maybe the real thing was responsible if it ever worked. |
| Do it Sunday night, not today! You don't want to use up his supply. |
Huh? Read the post again. They're doing an iui on Sunday morning. Why would they need to have sex on Sunday night? |
Because the washed sperm don't survive very long, and if she ovulates later than expected, it would be good to have more sperm there. |
We were told to have sex the night of the IUI and the next night too. |
THANK YOU, EVERYONE!!!! I decided not to this morning and am glad I did after reading these posts. ![]() ![]() Thanks again, much appreciated.
