Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Let me take this opportunity to thank all who participated in the April 23 Special Election and commend the candidates running for office who expressed their caring and commitment to make the District of Columbia even greater. The issues and challenges we face in modern society are daunting, but citizens working together with government, can move forward addressing many concerns, resolving problems, and celebrating improvements in the quality of life citywide to the benefit of all citizens and neighborhoods. Further, congratulations to those who worked so diligently on behalf of the DC Charter Amendment on Budget Autonomy. The overwhelming support of the referendum's passage moves us closer to true independence and statehood.
>From my Council office, I look forward to continue receiving your concerns and ideas about how government can improve services and include all in progress for the future. For those whom I have not had the pleasure of meeting or working with, I want to assure you that my council agenda is on behalf of all the citizens of the District for policies, monitoring of services, and expenditures of substance benefitting all. In spite of what you may have heard from some quarters, I am working to bring diverse opinions and individuals across social, economic and cultural divides together to progress the District of Columbia. My strength is bringing people together for just purposes. I have a documented history of advocacy for progressive ideas and innovative ways to assist those underserved, in need, and shut out. I also feel strongly that local businesses, non-profits, and institutions are vital to continuing the progress of the District and invite you to join me in accomplishing much going forward.
As always, if you have any concern or issue you wish to discuss, please contact me at

Warm regards,
Anita
