Hi!
My child is interested in going to medical school so I'm trying to find out which schools have a combined bachelors/MD program. I know that the University of Chicago has such a program. Are there any others? |
think there is a program through SUNY - Downstate Medical Program.
I had friends from HS who went there. |
Google is your friend. http://www.premedhq.com/2011/07/list-of-bamd-programs.html |
there are a truckload and come in all sorts of structures at all different types of schools. you have ones like Brown's PMLE program which is a 8 year bs/md program to ones like Penn State/Jefferson program which can be done as quickly as 6 years combined bs/md.
know a lot of people who did the psu/jeff program who are in extremely sucessful and competitive residencies and practices now. |
Lehigh had a great program when I was there. |
Northwestern does, or at least used to. Ditto University of Michigan. I am a University of Chicago graduate and I am pretty sure they do NOT have such a program. |
Was also going to suggest Univ of Michigan. |
Several of the VA schools have a program where you do the pre-med, get a certain GPA and are admitted without having to take the MCAT. WM and Mary does, and VCU, too. I think it's to either Med Coll of VA or Eastern Shore something or other. |
University of Pittsburgh (which is a top med school) has this as well. |
I went to Lehigh and unless something major has changed, it does not have a med school. |
Boston University |
lehigh's program is with drexel's medical school. (3 years at lehigh, 4 years at drexel). not all bs/md programs are fully within the same university. psu's is with jefferson in philly (though psu has its own medical school in hershey, pa that's pretty good). |
When I was at the U of Chicago in the 1990s, they didn't have a joint bachelor/MD, but they did have a special early admission track to the U Chicago med school. |
Rochester. |
