| A family of three to spending $2000 on groceries. I'll tell you how, DW lives at Whole Foods. She's been bamboozled by all the tricks and shiny labels of bearded Vermont cattle growers etc. |
|
I find Whole Foods isn't any more expensive than regular stores if you tend to buy organic either way and stick to basics (veggies/fruits/meats/basic staples). Their store brand organics are great and cheap.
If she's buying a bunch of packaged overpriced crap, then yeah, that sucks. We eat organic and are a household of five (three adults and two elem. aged boys). We spend about $1200 a month. |
|
We don't eat organic and spend half that. Organic is silly.
Whole Foods is crazy expensive. I once popped in with a friend and bought a single peach. It was $4. |
| If you're into eating pesticides and hormones, more power to you. I don't find it silly to want to avoid them. |
| Go to h-mart. You will fill a cart high with great fresh produce for very little money. I buy organic sometimes, especially for meat, but whole foods is just crazy expensive. Look at their profit margins. |
| Where is h-mart? |
| There's one in Fairfax. |
Sheesh, passive aggressive, much? It works like this: He: Hey doll, do you mind if I do the grocery shopping for the next few weeks? She: Gee, sugarloaf, why do you want to do that? He: Well gummibear, I've kind of lost touch with what things cost these days, and I want to reconnect, domestically speaking She: >swoon< Learn to communicate with your spouse or GTFO
|
| Or, "guimmibear? I was reading in the paper that peaches don't have to cost $4 apiece. Why don't we try shopping at a store that isn't the biggest rip off in history? Hmmm, lollipop?" |
Man, that Whole Foods store down the block takes up my WHOLE paycheck.
|
| We're a family of four and we easily spend $1200/month on groceries, plus eat out once or twice a week. |
| We are a family of 6 (including nanny) and I spend about $2000 a month shopping almost exclusively at whole foods (I buy paper products elsewhere). I don't buy much packaged stuff though. |
Or, maybe OP's wife is using her debit card to withdraw cash at Whole Foods to build up a nest egg so she can leave. |
I do. Gullible, too. |
Never happened unless you bought a one pound peach. |
