Thought it would be good to start a new thread about experiences in the MoCo immersion programs. I know there are some older threads out there, but the ones I'm finding for the programs we have a shot at (the Spanish programs) are all a few years old. I would love to hear about people's specific experiences with the Spanish programs, and I'm sure there are others out there who want to hear about the French and Chinese programs. I missed the open house at the program we have the best shot at - is it OK to call the school and ask for a tour? |
What school would you like to know about? |
The Spanish ones - we're on the waitlist at all three. So Rock Creek Forest, Rolling Terrace, Burnt Mills. |

Just finished K at RCF and we had a wonderful experience. Really feel lucky that we got a spot. The only thing were worried about is the temporary move to a farther building while they build the new school this year and next, but I think they've handled it well so far.
OP, when you say you're on the wait list, how far up? There isn't much movement at RCF at all, although I think there is some typically at Rolling Terrace. |
Does anyone know specifically the wait list movement of Sligo Creek and College Gardens? |
You can call the Division of Consortia Choice and Application Program Services at 301-592-2040 and find out if your wait list position has changed. |
I called yesterday inquiring about the College gardens wait list. They are currently accepting the #11 child on the kindergarten wait list. In the past two years, its gone to #27 and #17. It was explained to me that after the school year starts, if there are a couple kids that withdraw, the wait list goes down pretty far because kids have to be enrolled in mcps to stay on the waitlist. If parents enroll in a private school because their child was not in the immersion program at the start of the year, their spot is automatically forfeited. |
My son was offered a spot @ college gardens last Friday. He is #12 on the waitlist. |
