I live in Washington Dc but I'm willing to travel an hour for a good deal. My car is making a weird noise and I've taken it to get fixed in NW Dc for other things before and it always cost so much more than places like Va. Does anyone have a mechanic they trust and charges a reasonable price? Please recommend!

I have been satisfied with the service I have had several times at Sears Auto by the Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. They don't charge to check the car out - unlike other places that wanted to charge a fortune to even look at it. They have also always been able to fit me in same day without any wait. Cost seems reasonable enough.

Auto world out in Gaithersburg. I don't know how expensive they are compared to other places, but they seem to be both reasonably priced and honest.

Rising Sun Motors in College Park. Very trustworthy crew who are honest with you about exactly what you need and what you don't need. We had one car serviced there for the 10 years we owned it. Then sold it to someone at my then-work and we told her that we had all the servicing done there. She started taking it there and they just transferred the records from our name to her name and her up-to-date on the servicing records and what had been done. We would take our new car in and the one guy would tell us that "our car" had been in just a couple of months ago and that it was still running well. We bought that 97 Nissan Sentra in 1999 and sold it to her in 2009. Last year, she finally sold it and the guys told us that the car was still in good shape when she sold it (I don't know to whom) at 15 years old so they took very good care of this car for 13 years and we did not spend a huge amount on this car.
