| We have an unfinished basement and we get camel crickets down there. The glue traps help control them but then you are looking at dead crickets in glue traps. We're looking for a house and wondering about finished basements. Do they populate finished or carpeted basements as well? Somehow I would find hanging out and watching TV down there less appealing if we had them hopping around down there. |
Yes, but not as frequently. |
| You won't have cave crickets if you actually use the space. They like cool damp and dark areas. So, unfinished and unused basements are perfect. We had a bunch if them in our finished tiled basement when we first moved into our house but they were gone in days once we started living there (house was empty before we move in). |
| Yes! The eat carpet (and just about anything else) but our exterminator gets rid of most of that. |
| We have a single one from time to time but the dehumidifier helps. |
| Yes. We get tons, but only during a short season in the fall - around Halloween time. Otherwise we get one here and there. |
| Yes, occasionally. They don't like light, and they don't like it too dry. |
| We don't- finished townhouse basement |
| You must seal cracks and spray |
| If we put glue traps in the unfinished area we can usually keep them out of the finished part. Otherwise they do show up..usually like when you turn the light on in the morning they are there. The glue traps (or duct tape works fine too) makes it ok though. |
| We don't get crickets in our finished basement. |
|
Yes! But not as many.
They are harmless. Why would anyone get an exterminator for a cave cricket? Genuinely curious. |
| We get them sometimes in our finished basement, and the population does seem to spike once or twice a year. But it's really not a big deal. |
We usually don't - they don't bother me - but the PP mentioned that they eat rugs, etc so I googled and it sounds like they do eat a bunch of things that are stored in my basement. Ugh. |
I'm the PP with the exterminator. They eat holes in anything left on the floor (blankets, laundry) plus they just skeeve me. We have a guest bedroom in the basement and I don't want to subject our guests to them either... |
