MDIPA & Optum

Anonymous
Hello-
Hoping someone can help me out as I am new to all of this.

We are going to start an IUI in May at Shady Grove, and my nurse called in the meds (Clomid, Bravelle, Ovidrel, and Prometrium) to Medco. I know that UCH MDIPA switched to OptumRx, so I let her know and have asked her to resubmit pre-authorization to them.

I just got off the phone with Optum and they told me that Bravelle and Ovidrel aren't covered at all....ugh. Is there a way for them to cover some of it or am I just stuck paying out of pocket?

Does the nurse give me the prescription or does SG send it to Freedom Fertility? Once it's send to them, I am guessing I need to call to have it filled and delivered. What's the turnaround time usually?

Like I said, I am new to all of this, so any advice/suggestions would be great!!

TIA!

Freedom handles the fertility meds for optum. That said injects are only covered for IVF cycles.
