I am suddenly falling APART. Having severe back pain (intermittent) that radiates up/down my back. I am exhausted. Numbness/tingling in hands/feet. I am scared that it is ankylosing spondylitis or fibro or something chronic.
Help please! Advice? Suggestions? I have an appt with a rheumatologist on Monday... Just in serious pain right now and my mind is racing and I scared. What if it is degenerative? Also my BP is elevated

| It is probably nothing. I had something a bit similar that turned out to be just exhaustion and paranoia. Just try to relax. Whatever it is, you will deal with it as best you can. |
Thanks PP. DH just brought me some wine I am worried it is MS. But good point - it is what it is...
|
| My DH had similar symptoms appear after recovering from a random virus. The doctor had a name for it, but I can't remember what it is. It lasted about two weeks and went away. |
| What's your day looking like for tomorrow? Hope it's not to stressed.... |

Good Lord walk away from the google. What you are doing is classic -- finding your symptoms in every terrible disease. And you can actually experience symptoms after you read about them on the internet.
To me this sounds like a panic attack, which can be very physical. I'm guessing you have some kind of muscle thing going on in your back. The tingling can very much be part of a panic attack. See the doctor but try to calm down. You're going to be fine. |
| 21:44 - did your DH have transverse myelitis? |
I agree, I induce symptoms all the time bc of Google...
|
| I have fibro and my symptoms were like yours. It took a while to find the right meds, but I'm on Lexapro now and feel totally fine. It really hasn't ruined my life or anything. |
| Thanks PPs. 10:32 - this is OP. I am already on Lexapro. Maybe I can increase my dose. I had to take 3 advil just to take the edge off the pain this morning. |
Pp here- God no, based on what I just read when I googled it. What my DH had was described as a overactive immune response to fighting the virus. It's a temporary thing, not a condition. He basically had very sore, stiff joints (and back) that would worsen as the day progressed, making him tired. If you are like me, you symptoms are exacerbated by the stress of worrying about them. Tingling, for me, if often brought on just by reviewing symptoms of MS. Try to relax until your appointment. There are dozens of things that are less worrisome that it might be. Keep us posted! |
If this is OP, you are seriously going around the bend with this googling. What you most likely have is an anxiety disorder and you should address it. |
| There could be some small swelling in your back that is causing the tingling (pinching a nerve a little bit) |
| If you haven't had a physical in a while, go have one. . . they'll check for the usual things (vitamin deficiencies, thyroid problems, etc.) It could be something like that. Or could just be exhaustion, especially if you're a new-ish parent. . . |
