Can you work from home in Catering Sales?

Anyone know anything about the field of Catering sales and if employees are allowed telecommute days in most cases?

pretty much no. (I work for a local hotel company, there are several big ones in the area). You would be selling local catering and meeting events, and you'd probably have to be at the hotels you work for or visiting accounts to sell them space/catering for their events. (If that's the kind of catering sales you're talking about). Most of the catering sales people are based at hotels at my company.

I worked for a top off-premise catering company for 6 years and to answer your question, no, you cannot work from home. Maybe a day here and there, but your office needs to be your primary place of work. You would have days spent out of the office on site visits, client meetings etc. but generally you would be expected to report to the office daily. Also, unless you have a book of business already, I don't think any decent catering company is going to hire you in sales. You would be eligible for an assistant position, working directly under a sales person.

I would say yes, but I would also say you needed to make a lot of outside sales calls and would probably be in the office for site visits a lot. If I found out you dictated your schedule to the client so it suited your needs rather than theirs I would be pissed. I would let you work at least 2 days from home.
