Any idea how much it would cost to install hardwood floors for about 1000 square feet of space? |
We just got a quote for ~700 sq ft. Direct glue on concrete floor, around $3k. |
Home Depot has a special for the install I think for $250 for the entire house plus whatever the cost of the floor. |
Real wood, 3 inch planks, if they are not doing a staircase, probably close to 8k. |
Sounds like they need to use engineered wood. |
We just installed our own. We used one of the least expensive type they sell at Home Depot, because it matched another part of the house we already had
It was the 2 3/4 Bruce hardwood floors. It probably wouldn't be my 1st choice of any wood, but this isn't our "forever home" and really we just wanted to get rid of the awful carpet and linoleum that was there previously. It cost us about $1000 total for approx. 1000 sqf, including all molding (We needed threshold molding for a step down from one room to another, T molding around the fireplace, shoe molding around the whole room, etc). It took several days to do, and my husband wasn't able to take a lot of time off work, so it was spread out over the course of several weekends. |
Lumbar Liquidators wanted $1.99 sq ft for a basic install. It was $1 more for diagonal. |
We did ours ten years ago, covered about 850 square feet for $5,000. This included ripping out the old flooring, putting in a subfloor, and installing hardwood that was then stained and sealed on site.

I think it was about $3 a square foot for us, including the shoe moulding. |
The price really depends on a few variables: materials, labor. You can find more info here, for example, http://www.bcfloors.ca/cost-install-hardwood-floors/ |
$8 per square foot red or white oak |
We just paid about $2k for the installation of about 1000 sq feet, including installing shoe molding and some repairs to the sub floor.
Now the floor itself was a lot more expensive (about $5500 for 4 inch wide teak) but you are asking about the installation. |
