Why Do You Hate Nurses?

Anonymous
I have noticed a few nasty comments about nurses on here. Why do you all hate nurses? Why don't you respect their education?

I love nurses and doctors who are smart and respectful. Please do not address me by my first name, for starters.

I love nurses, especially NICU nurses. God's work.

I don't hate nurses. Tend to like them more than doctors. Very friendly and warm, specially with kids.

We usually don't, usually ask what you prefer to be called. However, with your attitude we usually call you asshole behind your back.

Me too, and please don't call me "mrs x". I'm not old yet.

Do you mean doctors? Because it's a hierarchical profession full of big egos and formerly popular people?

Meaning the docs hate the nurses.

What do you want to be called? "Honey"?

As someone who's had two major surgeries in the last two years, I'm extremely grateful to nurses who took care of me. Well, some were better than the others, but it's a tough job, and people doing it deserve a lot of credit.

I love nurses, as do most people that I know. Please don't take a few rude comments on this forum as a mainstream view.

I can't imagine why anyone would hate the entire profession. Perhaps the rude comments to which OP refers were about specific nurses and specific problems.

Not all nurses are good, just like not all plumbers are good. The restaffing of hospitals for cost reasons in current years with cheaper alternatives than full RNs has also resulted in less training among the people any given patient may come into contact with and fewer well-meaning and highly skilled people trying to do more things. Nonetheless, I have had some great nurses. The few times I have been concerned about my care, for example when I was having surgery and could not look out for myself, I brought my own nurse - my mom.

Yes.

Nurses are awesome. It's the doctors that can be self important and negligent pricks.
