Eval with Karin Belsito

Has anyone gone through an evaluation with Dr. Belsito? We have an appt. with her for our 2 1/2 year old son, who has speech delays and gross motor issues; probable SPD. Also some behavioral concerns--obsessive stuff, maybe some anxiety, some episodes of spacing out, etc. He also is not on par socially--just seems largely confused and intimidated by other kids--he will play with lots of support and encouragement but definitely does not interact with the other kids at his play school in the same way they do.

So, we are trying to figure out what is going on and to see if there are other things we need to do in addition to the OT and ST and get some clarity, etc. etc.

Can anyone give me an idea of what the appointment will be like with Dr. Belsito? We are bringing a stack of info--copies of the initial speech and OT evals, progress reports, his initial IEP and some progress notes from his home resource teacher, and the like. I know she's not going to have the time to review all of that while we are there--so I'm interested in what she will do and if there are other things I should be prepared for.

I've seen on this site that people speak well of her--hopefully someone can give more details as to what we will encounter in the actual appointment!

Send in the copies of the reports in advance.

Yes do send those reports well in advance (like a week or two) so she gets time to review. Expect 1.5 hours for first evaluation. She will do her own eval of him. We have just started seeing her for our 4 yr old son and are positive - she seems to be good with him and competent from what we see. We also see there are families from VA. Hope this helps.
