What would cause a ovulation test to be positive this long?

So i have 7 day period and started testing day after period. I got a smiley face 16 days after period. I had smiley face on the test for 2 days. Then none for 2 days. I don't know why but i bought a bunch of tests so i just kept testing. Then after 2 days of no ovulation i got another smiley face. Now I am due for my period in 2 days and i have not stopped getting smiley faces on the tests. I took a pregnancy test this morning and got a negative result.

I think those things are utter and complete crap. Your best days to have sex are when you are producing the most cervical mucus. Pay attention to your body - those tests aren't worth the money spent on them.

I have had a good experience with the smiley face ones so far. One cycle, I took a science experiment approach to ovulation testing (bear with me!) and tried the cheap internet brand alongside Clearblue digital. With the test sticks, I got only one unequivocal positive that had the test line darker than the control line. However with Clearblue, I got three days of smiley faces. The temperature spike happened after the middle day, which was the day the cheap brand was positive as well. I took that to be a sign that the Clearblue digital is more sensitive than the internet sticks.
Do you know if you actually ovulated? The only way would be if you were tracking temperature, and noticed a shift, with usually a dry-up of cervical mucus. Or, of course, a blood draw to confirm presence of progesterone. If you did ovulate, maybe that batch of tests was a dud. Or maybe you're pregnant! Apparently OPKs show up positive during pregnancy as well because LH and HCG are similar in structure. I know you said you got a -ve HPT, but wait a few days and test again.
If you do not know that you ovulated, it's possible that something is off in this cycle. Women with PCOS often have multiple positive readings on OPKs because of high LH levels. Or possibly your body is trying repeatedly to ovulate but is not succeeding. If you do not get your period or a +HPT a week after your period is due, I would make an appointment to see your GYN. You didn't get a smiley face until cycle day 12 or cycle day 19? First day of your period is cycle day 1.

How many days is your cycle usually?

I have VERY low AMH, like undetectable.
My RE said that can cause the tests to be skewed. I got a month of highs but never any peaks.
