I am searching for a soccer class that has a small size (less than 10 children ideally) for my 3.5 year old. My dd is socially anxious but she has no disability and has excellent motor skills. She just takes a while to warm up to a new environment (it may take her up to 3 classes or possibly never if there is an uninvolved instructor). I can search for dates and times as we are very flexible, but if you have experiences with excellent and nurturing programs/instructors, I would love to hear!
I have searched the thread and found some good places, but I thought I'd throw out this question keeping in mind my dd's anxious tendencies. Thank you |

Is your child in preschool? One of the mothers in our preschool organized a class through Darryl Gee. As long as you can get a small group together of interested parents, Darryl Gee will supply the teachers and structure. My son participated as a 3 year old and as a 4 year old. It was a great experience and not at all competitive or stringent. I think it also helped my son that he already knew all of the children participating, since many were in his class at school. |

My son is autistic and I felt like small classes were a key as well, but also I wanted the consistency of the coach.
We registered for a class at Norwood park with Kids Pro soccer nearly two years ago when my son turned 3. He has been taking that class for two years now and we have the same coach-coach Jo who is amazing with my son. He knows him and memorized the whole routine that gives him so much confidence that nobody can notice his social inhibitions anymore. Now, he is five and I frankly don't know what I would do without this program that seems to be the only group activity that is not stressful for him. I frantically check before each session who the coach is! I definitely think that your child could benefit from that class. From what I have seen on the website, they also do classes per request, like with only his friends etc. so you can limit the number of friends you are inviting. |
| I am glad you posted my DS was just diagnosed with autism and I have had a hard time finding a venue for him. I will try their classes. |

I would say Brit Am and I desperately wanted to be positive about them as I know there have been lots of negative posts but our experience so far hasn't been great. The content of classes is fine but we've had 3 coaches over the 4 sessions so far. Hardly the kind of consistency that pre schoolers need.
We won't be rushing to sign up for another session with them. |
