leg cramps

The leg cramps in the last trimester are pretty uncomfortable. What have you done for them that has helped?

I had these for a few weeks but they're much better now. Not sure what I did that helped, but I do aim to stay pretty well hydrated and I take a lot of warm baths. As I'm now in my last month, I'm exercising less, too - not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

I had these in my first pregnancy and am hoping that I won't experience them this time around, although I know that may be wishful thinking. My OB said they are caused by poor blood circulation as your girth expands. I found that the harder I pushed myself during the day, the more often I would wake up at night with excrutiating leg cramps. I found that I had to spend at least a couple of hours a day with my feet elevated. Also, I noticed an improvement when I stretched or did yoga. Hang in there!

I get bad leg cramps normally, while pregnant they are incredibly painful. Try a banana a day, it's the potassium you need. Always works.

I have horrible arm cramps and here is what I've been told/done and it has helped. Banana or cantaloupe for potassium. Fish oil caplets for circulation. Bath every night. Ice for 15 minutes before bed. When it does get bad, I go sleep in the spare room where I can spread out more without worrying about bothering my husband. Of course, as someone said, if I don't rest it always gets worse.

I have a wonderful husband but he gives me a leg and foot massage for about 5 minutes on each side every night before I go to sleep. The nights that he cannot because he isn't home yet I wake up with the worst leg cramps. A lovely lady at his office told him it was his duty He did the same with my first pregnancy and now the second and it is a miracle I tell you-
