Is a 1% "rebate" back from my realtor extraordinary?

For my house purchase of about $600K, My parents was friends with a certain realtor and before I agreed to use his services, I haggled for a few days about being able to get some sort of rebate and he finally agreed to 1%. That seemed reasonable to me, but I wanted to check and see what others were able to work out with their buyer's agent.

Yes, I know that I could have gotten more back by going through Redfin, but I needed a little more customer service than I was getting.

Redfin sucks. I mean, it's not the worst agency out there, but it's probably in the bottom 25%.

I'd be happy with 1% but not any less. We got this back in 2008 and it was less common then.

We got that when buying, because the seller was so difficult both agents knew this was their only chance for a transaction!
