Anyone NOT taking their SWS PK spot?

We have a great WL # but so far no movement. Forms are due May 1 so after that we will know more but I figured I'd put out a plea here. If you are giving up your spot, please call and tell them-- or note it here thanks!

Did the school tell you there has been no movement? I contacted my in-bounds DCPS school and they would only say check back after May 1 - didn't seem to me that they would be updating before then.

Schools vary. May 1st is when they know for sure unless people like the AWESOME poster above call and tell them first.

We are taking ours, but I hope you make it in! It is a great school. (We got in via sibling preference.)

Thank you! With the poster who is calling today, I will be only one more spot away from getting in YAY!

Just curious what number you have, and whether you know how much the WL has moved so far. Thanks!

I am also curious. I am #16 on the WL, and I am wondering if I have a shot at all.

Probably not. Also heard today from reliable source that there will never be neighborhood preference. DCPS is too afraid of having another majority white school EoTP, is my guess.

Wow! I was just looking at their website. The Reggio program looks amazing! Makes me sad my kids are older.

It really is a great school - and the principal is encouraging people to get their forms in so that they can turn to the wait list. I know that last year was an off year because of the move, but I know a number of families who were called with wait list numbers in the teens last summer.

I know a family who are in for preK - but hoping to move out of DC. I'd say there is a better than 50% chance they will move; but they won't give up their slot until they know it's happening (probably June).

I really hope you are wrong.
