Does anyone use that practice and what do you think?
Anyone delivered at Washington Hospital Center? thanks. |
I have no personal experience with the hospital or the practice, but a friend who is an OB did a rotation there and said it was HORRIBLE. She was not at all impressed with the other doctors there. |
I delivered at WHC 14 months ago and thought it was okay. If you know what you want (no drugs, no monitoring, etc) be very clear about it. I wanted a natural birth and I swear they tried to push pain meds everytime a nurse came in the room. If you want a clinical delivery (I ended up with a c-section) or are high risk, they're fine. But if you want relaxed, natural, etc., try a birthing center. |
Dr John Buek, who used to be at Georgetown, is now at WHC. He is wonderful, great bedside manner and very competent. He was my main OB during my pregnancy and I was really upset when he left. |
I gave birth there 6 month ago. My original OB/GYN was Dr. Maureen Chua but she retired. I saw the other Doctors (all of them women) in her practice and delivered with Dr. Melancon who is great. I also had a Amniocentesis there with Dr. Fries. My experience during the delivery and with everybody I dealt with during my pregnancy was outstanding. Contrary to the experience of a PP, I wanted drugs, so I was happy to see a nurse coming from time to time to check on my epidural. For a strange reason though, the effect of my epidural wore off during the last 30 minutes of delivery so it was like having a natural birth. But for the 16 previous hours I was in labor, I felt nothing.
It is a teaching Hospital, so be aware that there will be interns coming to see you. You can say no obviously. Same as Georgetown. Any particular questions? |
