Wow, looks pretty definitive.

Doesn't add anything new. This was known as of the joint statement earlier this week. US Soccer is the next domino.
Denial isn't a crime but CEO of USYS posted, "Once passed, we'll work to ensure a smooth transition with toolkits and other resources to ensure all kids want to stay in the sport and take their game as far as they can." Not if passed, once passed.

Very telling word choice. Can we start arguing over when the change will happen now?

No, let's argue that he didn't list his sources and should be sued for plagiarism. Emoji

Not really. If ECNL changes to SY and GA stays BY (along with MLSN). GA might become competitive and possibly overtake ECNL on the girls side.

ECNL is really putting all of their eggs in the NCAA basket, based on an NCAA landscape of 2 years ago. This is what happens when average people think they’re smarter than everyone else.
Or might not. What would be the draw to GA when women pro slots are so, so rare and college recruiters have to deal with non-matching age categories?

There is no draw. USSF or NWSL would have to put their finger on the scale by providing meaningful subsidies to a GA BY league. Until that happens, SY ECNL would crush BY GA.

2011 girl parent here. I'd love for it to be effective for her 8th grade year starting 1/1/25 just so she gets a full season in the spring in VA.
I don't think she is magically going to make a current 2012 ECNL/GA team here in Northern Virginia. That age group is strong. She didn't make a 2011 ECNL/GA team so it is doubtful she could make a 2012 team given the competition. Second team it is!
I am more concerned that her 8th grade year isn't disrupted when the 9th graders are playing HS. Our club doesn't seem to provide many options for those trapped players so this would be a good change to support her development.

I don't know how they could logistically do this for a 1/1/2025 change. Contracts with clubs are through June 2025.

Not happening 1/1/25

Have you never heard politicians speak before?

CEO of USYS confirmed the change has been approved by USYS,USclub,AYSO. Once approved by USSF they will make sure to have a smooth transition.

Sounds like they are saying it’s a done deal so that they can shift blame if it doesn’t happen.

Not happening 1/1/25
Wouldnt this be for next soccer year? So basically, they bootstrap through tryouts and need it fully sorted in time for next season, so around Augustish. Not sure why people think it would start immediately, there is still time to burn in and get logistics sorted, doesnt really seem that complicated.

What!? This can't be serious.

I thought the SY denial would end on page 202 with the CEO of USYS confirming the change. Alas, onward to page 300.

It sounds more like your typical LinkedIn post to congratulate everyone on a job well done. This would lead me to believe this change is definitely going to be approved. It what capacity? We will find out.
