Wayside ES vs Seven Locks ES

Anonymous
We are trying to decide between buying two houses (one is in Wayside ES district and the other in Seven Locks)and we have two children (older one age 4) so we will be in the schools for their entire elementary school years. Could anyone comment on their experience with either school? How have they handled the implementation of curriculum 2.0? How do they compare in terms of how experienced the teachers are in dealing with what seems to be a very large class size (for Wayside, at least)? Thanks in advance.

Don't compare them based on 2.0 - that is the same everywhere.

Wayside is incredible! Academically aggressive principal and every Wayside kid I have met is super academically prepared. 10 wayside kids out of 55 spots in the incoming 4th grade cold spring HGC. Wish we had bought in Wayside!

You can't go wrong with either ES. I'd choose based on the actual house, commute, proximity to other things that are impt to yu before spending time trying to compare and contrast the 2 schools, as they are both great schools.

there is no real difference between the 2 elementary schools. very similar population and FARMS statistics. Wayside leads to Hoover and Churchill and 7 Locks leads to Cabin John and then depending on numbers, either Wootton or Churchill.

Hoover is a WAY better Middle School than Cabin John.

What information do you base this on?

Hoover cluster brought in teachers to teach compacted math during the regular day.

Cabin John cluster is having kids come in 45 minutes early to be taught at cabin John.

Did you mean Whitman or Churchill? I don't think any kids at Seven Locks go to Wooton.

All in all, I would say Wayside and Seven Locks are pretty even schools. However, Seven Locks has already been rebuilt so the school is state of the art. Wayside students will soon go into a holding school while their school is torn down and rebuilt. That usually means long bus rides for about 1 1/2 years.
