Are AAP Center orientation dates posted anywhere or do you have to call the school? TIA |
I expect it will be in your letter. |
Many schools have it on their calendar on their website. |
If they're not mailing letters until April 30, as I read in another thread, there may not be enough time for me to get time off from work to attend the open house. My work schedule isn't flexible, so if it's a day time orientation, I need to request the time off now even if my child doesn't get in to AAP. Our center doesn't have it on their calendar. Unless FCPS posts the dates somewhere else, I'll call the school. |
I know the schools have already scheduled them. So, if you are thinking AAP may be in your future, I would call the school and get it on your calendar. FWIW, my experience is these are all evening sessions. |
As it seems that the letters often get out only a few days before the orientation dates... I'd love to know beforehand too. It's sometimes hard for me to arrange for evening activities at the last minute... anyone know if there is a way to find out in advance? |
Call the school - they have the orientation scheduled. |
Maybe we could all help each other out by posting the date if we know it.
According to the Belvedere front office, that center's open house is Monday, May 6 from 2 to 3 pm. |
Lemon Road May 7 - 7:00pm
Shrevewood May 2 (new LLIV program) - 7:00 pm |
Canterbury Woods AAP orientation May 8 @ 6:30 pm |
Last year DS' s was during the day. Also, a couple of the parents from DS' s school thought only parents were invited. Kids are also invited and at DS' s center got a tour of classrooms etc. |
Greenbriar west elementary

according to the fcps website...
End of April 2013: Eligibility decisions mailed. Early - mid May 2013: Full-time AAP orientations held at Level IV sites. May 31, 2013: Appeals due to AAP Office. Weird thing...our base school is a center, but they do not have the aap orientation date listed on the website calendar. Nor was it noted in the APRIL school newsletter. Very odd! |
The schools often do not advertise AAP orientation because the event is really for AAP students. If you are appealing, it is not for you. Only if you are admitted.
But what do I know... |
Not much, with that gratuitous troll comment. |
