I have a 3 week vacation planned in summer. My current job situation is spiraling downward fast and I am extremely unhappy and bitter.
I have updated my resume and am ready to approach several competitors. I really want to start the job search now instead of after my vacation. Should I wait after mid August or start now? Is it a big no no to start a new job with planned vacation? If I do get an offer, I will definitely inform my future boss before I start. Thank you! |
| Before. Companies will work around planned vacations. |
| Start now. You don't know how long it will take to find a new job, interview, get the offer, give notice, and start working there. If you don't start until mid-August, think how much longer you'll have to stay at this job where you're unhappy. You don't want to be in a situation where you are so desperate to leave that you take a new job that's not the best fit. |
| I am in HR. As long as you do not have an AOL email address, we will allow new employees to take a previously scheduled vacation unpaid. |

Now!
Too much about the AOL email! Funnily, I got a job offer via my AOL email addy yesterday! |

Yesterday.
It has taken DH and some of our friends unlucky enough to be out of a job MUCH longer than they estimated to find a job. As in, months. In one case, more than a year. Good luck. |
| +1 for now |
