banana republic exchange policy

| BR has a 45 day return/exchange policy. I have a pair of pants that I got 2 months ago that I would like to exchange or get store credit for. I understand that I missed the window for a return. Anyone know if BR is very strict with its policy for exchanges/store credit? |

When I was there last weekend there were two people in front of me returning things that were purchased more than six months ago. What I learned was that if you are gracious, polite, and have a receipt you will still get store credit.
