| DH and I love Thai food, but we rarely go out for Thai because our kids are picky eaters. I want to start to slowly introduce Thai food to them. Can you recommend some dishes that might appeal? Not spicy, and not too saucy - noodles or rice in it would be a plus. Thanks. |
| chicken satay... (not if there are peanut allergies) it's really good. maybe pad thai. sticky rice and mango is really good. Some thai places have thai fried rice and spring rolls that are really good too. |
| Second the pad thai recommendation, and pad see ew is a good noodle dish too. Also summer rolls. They may be actually more Vietnamese than Thai, but you see them in Thai restaurants all the time. |
| Have they tried Vietnamese food? My kids seem to prefer that generally. Simple grilled meat or seafood w rice to dtart |
| My crazy picky eater loves spring rolls. He'll eat some chicken curries, but not reliably. We love Thai food, so he needs to get with the program. |
| They may like pad thai (assuming no egg allergy)-- it's basically noodles in ketchup sauce. |
|
Pad see uw. Usually chicken.
DC can eat an entire order. |
| My 3 year old will eat an entire order of pad see eew by herself. Pad thai is also a good option. You can also sometimes find a mild curry. For appetizers, I think that chicken satay is relatively inoffensive to inexperienced palates, plus the usual spring rolls, etc. My DD is a big fan of hoi jor, which is basically shrimp, crab and chicken pulverized and wrapped in tofu paper. |

Rice.
Cut up chicken satay (sauce optional). Drunken noodles, no heat. Thai reataurants have an abundance of veggies so we often ask for a small dish of raw bell peppers or something. Our kid loves that. Juice or drink of choice + goldfish or whatever to supplement. |
| not sure how picky they are, but tofu tod (fried tofu) is popular in our house |

there's a dish that's called different things at different thai restaurants, but essentially, it's crisp egg noodles in brown gravy, with chicken and vegetables.
At one place I go, it's called mee grob lad na. It's savory, no heat. The noodles get noodle-textured as they sit in the gravy, but are crisp like those lo mein noodles on asian salads where they haven't been in the gravy. My kids loves it. |
| my kids (3 and 15 mos) also love pad se yu. It's wide rice noodles and broccoli and whatever meat you choose. |
| If all else fails, get them some mango and sticky rice. Steamed vegetables are also good fillers. And, chicken sate. My kid can't eat a single bit of spice, not one little bit (which is so crazy, as I love extremely spicy food), so it is hard for me to judge correctly whether there is any spice, so I just go very, very simple for my own sanity. |

Another one for pad see eew (with pork). DS can't get enough. He likes Tara Thai--he thinks the underwater decor is cool.
And of course, mangos and sticky rice. |
Pad thai also usually has chopped peanuts on it. |
