Is anyone else wondering what this is all about? Him saying that Obama is going to be tested within the first 6 months, "mark my words"? I might be wrong, but all I hear is.."Dont vote for Obama, or else!" ...I now that's not what he's trying to say, but It sure doesnt make me feel safe when he says that. And it also makes me wonder, "What does he really know?"
Maybe Im just being paranoid... |
Yawn. I'd get alarmed, but I used up all my anxiety over the last dozen or so things about Obama I am supposed to be scared about. |
Biden says what he thinks. He lived through the Cuban missile crisis and figures that Khrushchev was not unique in wanting to see what he could get away with. It was probably not useful for the campaign, but I think he just cannot and will not put his tongue in hock for the duration. |
BTW, part of McCain's attack on Obama in response to the idea of Obama being tested (besides stating that Obama WILL make the wrong decision) was "I've been tested, my friends.” I know it's not PC to say so, but when he was tested in Viet Nam, he cracked and gave a statement that he has been ashamed of ever since. When he was tested by Keating, he showed what he admits was a lapse of judgment he has regretted ever since.
I leave it to you to see where this goes. |
Actually, McCain was on the USS Enterprise during the Cuban Missle Crisis and has retold that story in relation to having been tested. |
somehow "tested" and "tortured" don't appear to be synonyms, 00:40 |
Biden is known for putting his foot in his mouth. He needs to keep his mouth shut. All they have to do now is not screw up and it looks like they've got the election.
Do I think Obama will be tested in his first 6 months, sure. But so might McCain or anyone else. Heck, Iran is still being "testy" with us every day. The difference is, I have more confidence in Obama and the Democrats to engage even our "enemies" and hopefully come to a solution that doesn't start WWIII. I don't believe that the Dems are going to be any LESS competent in international challenges. (Is it possible to be less competent than the administration we've got now???) And yes this thing about McCain claiming he's been "tested". Give me a break. He has never been commander in chief having to make decisions about acts of war, starting a war, ending a war. Nobody who hasn't already been President can claim to have that experience. Call me crazy, the only person I think even comes CLOSE to having that kind of insight is one who already spent 8 years in the White House and lived through those kinds of decisions every day. Hillary Clinton. |
So, did he crash another plane before or after his experience on the USS Enterprise? Or maybe he was finally done crashing them... ![]() |
To be fair to McCain, he has put his experience crashing planes to good use running his campaign into the ground. |
LOL, good one!!! |
Perhaps he simply meant that everyone is going to be UBER critical of everything Obama does. Every decision he makes. Every time he speaks someone will be on his ass evaluating him. Remember when Bush was tested with 9/11? I doubt Biden has secret info of some horrific event set to happen.
People will be looking for this change that Obama is promising. The first 6 months will show whether or not there will be change. |
So McCain's been tested and he failed. That is my take-away from these statements. |
Yup! I am glad to see that I was not too subtle. I had thought about including a reference to his wife-dumping, but figured it would be piling on. I throw it in now to point out that, like the other two cases, he never repeats what he considers to have been a character-weakness. But I am not sure that his unwillingness to dump Palin shows a lesson learned or an inability to distinguish loyalty from stubbornness. |
Good grief you guys, McCain was shot down by enemy sharpshooters. And the way some of you so triumphantly keep bringing up that McCain "cracked under torture"--I'm glad I don't know you. Your statements are nasty and revolting. Believe me, your behavior is not winning any new friends for Obama. (Oh, I already know your retort will be-who cares, or he's already won, but why do you want to polarize people even more?) |
No, I wrote those things, and that's not my retort. I also wrote elsewhere that I have no delusions that I would have withstood the torture had I been in his place, and that I have admiration for his service. I agree that we, as voters and citizens, should not be antagonistic to each other over the fact that we support different candidates. But I really think that when he speaks of being tested, torture is the test he is referring to. My point is that I'm tired of the implication that I should vote for the guy because of that experience. He is a man of greater than normal courage, who also has flaws. When I vote for a president, I look not just at courage and flaws, but also at intellect, judgment, and policy. |
