I'm looking for a family friendly restaurants near the zoo.
Thank you for your recommendations! |
You can either walk north on Connecticut to Cleveland Park, or south to Woodley Park. Both have family friendly places, but the food is better in Cleveland Park. |

This is true. And they're all in the space of two compact blocks. Many options, from pizza to sports pub to Indian to pan-Asian to small plates and wine .... Just stroll the two blocks and then pick. My personal faves are Spices (pan-Asian) and Ripple (small plates and wine), but I'm not sure if Ripple's open for lunch. There's also a California Tortilla if that's what the kids like. |
There are plenty of restaurants in Woodley Park. Whatever you do, don't buy food at the Zoo. Tastes awful and is overpriced. |
If you have a car, I'd drive over to 2 Amys. |
Yep - we walk north on Connecticut Avenue to Nam-Viet for yummy vietnamese food. We have a 5 yo and twin 2 yos. It's a completely doable walk and completely worth it. Zoo food stinks. |
Nam Viet rocks!!! |
there's a Noodles and Co near the Woodley Park station. |
Just there on Sunday and walked north in Conneticut Ave to find some dinner. A ton of options! |
Open City Diner is kid friendly. It's on Calvert just a block off Connecticut. |

And if one of you is kid-tired, there's a gin bar upstairs. |
You could pick up pizza at Vace's in CP and bring it with you to the zoo and picnic there. |
Can also go out the Adams Morgan entrance to the zoo near pizza playground to restaurants in Adams Morgan. Mintwood Place is a great restaurant that also has a kids menu. |
This is what I would do. If you want a sitdown restaurant, though, Nam Viet is probably the best bet. If you and your kids love steak and fries, Medium Rare is also good--but that's all they have on the menu! |
Dino is incredibly kid friendly too. |
