| Thinking of upgrading to a big girl diamond ring, and would love to see links to pretty rings. Let's pretend money is no object, but I don't want anything too big (I want to be comfortble wearing it everyday). |

| Ooh...another Pricescoper lurks here! Agree that PS is a great place to get ideas, though don't get discouraged b/c a lot of those ladies have BIG rings and BIG budgets. |
| Make sure to get a no-conflict diamond! |
| What's a big girl diamond ring? |
|
Op here: when my dh proposed, I was young, in law school, and doing street outreach with the homeless...I was a jeans and t-shirt girl who opted for a very understated antique ring. Now that I'm all grown up and no longer fear getting killed on the street over a piece of jewelry, I'd like a nice ring...one that a woman would wear.
PS - I took my rings off midway through my second trimester and can't get them back on. That's what has prompted me to start looking for a new ring. That, coupled with the questions I've been receiving from friends and coworkers who notice I'm not wearing a ring. |
| I feel like the diamond industry is such a scam- there's no shortage of diamonds but they're controlled by a monopoly artificially inflating prices by a huge degree. |
| it is totally a huge scam. my co-worked will be buying a ring soon and i told him not to buy a car's worth of a ring. he said that sadly that is probably what he will end up doing. his gf has princess aspirations, i guess. |
| Op again: I prefer antique rings, and I would never buy something too big or showy. Just looking for something nice. |
| I have a CZ ring. DH is big law. You would never ever suspect this about me, but I hated to spend so much on a statement piece. |

Check out Brilliant Earth. They sell jewelry with conflict-free diamonds, fair trade gemstones, and recycled metals. They have a lovely selection of antique rings.
www.brilliantearth.com They are located in SF so you would only be able to order online, but they absolutely are legit (I know one of the founders). It's an amazing company. |
Not sure I understand. Did you mention that DH is big law because you felt that as a big law wife you need a big ring? I get you hated to spend a lot of money, but why did you hate to spend a lot on a "statement piece?" what is a statement piece? Would you feel ok spending a lot on a non- statement piece? What is an example of a non- statement piece? |
