Sidwell throttling down college admissions?

Where and how? Show us, or else we know you're full of it.

Seriously? Sidwell charges $40K for kindergarten, whereas everyone else charges way less. Why? Because they think they're hot s*t and can get away with it.

Are you now advocating that Sidwell is just another school? Because there are endless threads here about how to get a vaunted Sidwell acceptance letter, so it certainly doesn't seem like that's how it's viewed around here ...

This may be evidence that Sidwell thinks it's the market leader in DC. But that's still a far cry from Sidwell making any kind of claims about where it stands relative to Andover or Exeter. So unless you have better proof, please take your hidden agenda and go away.

You really think I'm the only one making these claims? I hadn't followed this thread for a long time, came back and saw people posting about Andover and Exeter. Trust me -- I'm not the only one.

LOL, you're the same person who posted on pages 11 and 15 of this thread early last week with gems like "It is not oversimplified for a school like Sidwell which touts itself as the best of the best. It clearly is not in the same league as Andover and Exeter although it would like to think it is."

No one else wastes their time making claims about Sidwell relative to some boarding schools. Because we don't care.

Ok, conspiracy theorist, believe what you want to believe, but I promise you I'm not the only one bringing up Andover and Exeter.

Sorry this gets your panties all in a wad.

Also, I find it hilarious that you care so much that you went through a 21-page thread to find comments I apparently made.

You claim you don't care but YOU ACTUALLY CARE SO MUCH.

It took a whopping 20 seconds. I care about calling out liars for what they are. Pretty simple.

Take your crap somewhere else. No one's buying it.

Eh, well, I think all the other people making the same point as me are buying it, but whatever.

If you think Sidwell isn't trying to compete with every other private HS--including Andover and Exeter--for college admissions, you're delusional.

Sidwell is consistently ranked #15 out of all private high schools in the country. Andover and Exeter are usually #1 and #2. Honestly, I would think that is good enough for most people. So much of what is written about the school seems like sour grapes and it hurts other people from trying to get real information that could be helpful. Why is everyone so defensive about it all the time? Send your kid there and pay the $$, don't send your kid there and pay the $$ somewhere else, don't pay any $$ and send your kid to your well-loved public school. But so much quibbling seems dumb.

Please explain to us clueless ones your brilliant logical leap from "Sidwell is trying to compete with every other private HS" to "Sidwell bills/touts itself as the best of the best."

What about those two statements seem contradictory to you?

Harvard competes with Princeton and Yale, and bills itself as the best. You can consider yourself to have competition with peer institutions. These are not inconsistent statements.

You said "every other private HS." All private schools in the DC area are competing with every other private HS too, so singling out Sidwell in this context makes no sense.

Yes, but you're picking 3 colleges (HYP) that are traditionally considered at or very near the top 3 in the country. Here's a better comparison: MIT competes with HYP; but MIT does not itself as the best of the best. (In case you have trouble following, Sidwell is MIT in that particular analogy.)

Look, you just seem to be trying to create some weirdly immature and competitive contest. I send my kids to a top school in DC. For me and my family, that school is better than either Andover or Exeter for several reasons: (1) they're getting great educations, (2) I get to have my kids at home, and (3) many of the Andover/Exeter kids I met in college were immature assholes. YMMV! If you think Andover & Exeter are better, then you should send your kids there. We made the best choice for our family; you stick to your lane.
