Read the Preservation League's submission for Landmark Status here:

They were never planning to change the outside, correct? But they should get necessary permits before restarting.

It's not just about construction; there will be issues having another school in that area. Doe you know how many school are with a square mile of that location? A proper review process is going to raise a stink, which is probably why they tried to sneak it through.

^^good point, did they never undergo a traffic impact analysis? How did this fall under the radar?

I know a few students who have committed to go there next year, what happens to them now?

If the construction isn't done and there isn't a habitable campus, who knows. Maybe take classes at Mazza Gallerie?

Ha ha!

I expect the parents have been given some official story from the meeting on Thursday. I am curious as to what the pitch to parents is.

I have no idea about what exterior changes they wanted to make. Probably some openings to make it comply with the code for schools. But it does not make much difference for the Landmark Status and preservation delays ahead - while the Landmark application is pending, nothing can be done.

Any prospective families able to share the updates from the school?

We have been trying to find anyone in real life who is going. I’d love to hear what the school is saying and literally anything about it. It feels like what would happen if Elizabeth Holmes, Martin Shkreli and Bernie Madoff decided to start a school together as a prison project.

They say that they’re working with state and city and seem cconfident they will open on Sept 3rd. They don’t explicitly promise to open in the building but strongly imply it.

Just do not pay the tuition until then and make sure you have a back up plan that you are at least OK with. Because it is clear these people do not know what they are doing, and on top of it they might not be being honest.

They can say whatever they want. There is simply no way to get through the permit process and community involvement to change the use from Commercial to Educational via the BZA without at least 6 months of lead time.

I agree. I bet they are looking for swing space but don't want to admit it, because they will loose families.
